Restaurants in Prague

On your city trip to Prague, you’ll want to enjoy great food, relax, and soak in the city’s charm. Luckily, Prague is brimming with a diverse mix of international and local restaurants, cozy cafés, bars, and coffee spots - there’s always something just around the corner. Czech cuisine is all about hearty meat dishes, while veggies often take a back seat. But don’t worry, the city’s thriving vegan scene has you covered!

On You Love Prague, I share my personal experiences and highlight excellent restaurants recommended by trusted friends. Before you check them out, here are some tips before going to a restaurant.

Tips before going to a restaurant

  • Secure Your Spot: Don’t miss out on your desired dining experience - make a reservation, especially with groups! Popular restaurants can fill up quickly, especially during peak times. A quick call or online booking can save you a lot of hassle.
  • Know the Hours: Avoid disappointment by checking opening hours before heading out. Some restaurants may close between lunch and dinner, so plan accordingly to ensure a seamless dining experience.
  • Mind the Kitchen Hours: Many restaurants in Prague close their kitchens early, often around 9 PM. To avoid disappointment, plan your dinner accordingly and arrive with enough time to enjoy a leisurely meal.
  • Ask About Specials: Dive into the culinary offerings by asking about daily specials. Many Czech restaurants highlight seasonal ingredients and traditional dishes, providing a unique twist on your meal.
  • Embrace the Tipping Culture: Tipping is a cherished tradition in Prague, typically around 10-15%. Always check your bill for a service charge, and feel free to add a little extra for exceptional service!
  • Savour Local Flavours: Take your taste buds on an adventure by trying traditional Czech dishes like goulash or svíčková. Sampling local cuisine is a delightful way to immerse yourself in Czech culture!
